After all my worry of not having enough yarn while knitting Hiro I was left with about 5 skeins. I decided to cast on for a long cowl that I can wrap around me a few times to keep warm.
I might even have enough yarn to make a hat. After the last few frigid days I think I will get some use out of that too. I have already worn that sweater twice since finishing.
These are the days I am grateful to be a knitter. Bring on the cold!
Dragonfly in Amber is still my favorite listening. Another 29 hours to go.
What are you reading and knitting?

I'm so grateful for wool these days, too! I'm glad you're getting some use out of your sweater but I wouldn't mind a change to warmer weather.
I agree Donna. I have worn sweaters that I've knit for four days in a row, a record for here!
Now if it would just snow!
Everything I am knitting right now has cables!!! I need a St st project, but don't dare to cast on another project. 3 is enough right now.
Your colors are beautiful! I agree, I'm grateful for knitting these days too!
29 hours? Wow! We are in the middle of a heat wave here in Colorado. It was in the 40's these past few days. Stay warm!
Those colors are really pretty and I, also, am loving these cold winter days.
The colours of the yarn are beautiful and such a great combination.
Love that series! My mother got it as a car book for a long trip when I was a teenager. My father was a bit like what are we letting our daughters listen too, but got to interested in the story to stop it. Your yarn colors are pretty, being a knitter is wonderful.
Such beautiful colors. Looking forward to seeing your cowl.
Nice shots of your knitting and it's lovely colors. Enjoy your knitting.
love those colours!!!
You sound just like me - I am always scared I won't have enough yarn for the project and get way too much! It's a great idea to turn the leftovers into a cowl!
Isn't being a knitter just the greatest?? One of my favourite happy making things to do, is to look at the wooly goodness hanging in my mudroom, ready to be used outside by my loved ones to keep them warm. I made those things! I'm awesome! LOL.... Your photos are lovely! I laughed when I read Julia's comment above about her father and listening to the Outlander series in the car - I can only imagine!!!! Enjoy :-)
Leftover is always preferable to the alternative! Love those colors. I am ready for SNOW!!!
Nothing better than a good day for a knitter! I’m not a summer person-for more reasons than being a knitter.
Hehe I appreciate Winter much more since being a knitter, it's so nice being warmed head to toe with cosy handknits. Love the combination of colours you're using for your hat, I love purples lol
P.S - I was going to reply to your comment on my blog, but wanted to make sure you actually saw it. You mentioned that you had bought some cross stitch kits but were worried about your eyes? There's a great product called mageyes that you can wear on your head and they are a pair of magnifiers that come down over your eyes or glasses - many of my friends (of ALL ages) use them to help them see the fabric. Also - get a really good light - an ott lite at Michaels or whatever craft store you have (wait for a coupon) is worth every penny.

I hope this was useful! I just love stitching :-)
I do love winter....and all its wooliness!!! Somehow I missed the completion of the SWEATER!!!! OMG!! I love it......and having the extra yarn for a cowl AND hat is the best!!! Those are terrific colors.....I know you'll get to wear them a bunch. And remember it doesn't take much yarn for a sweater for Mowgli!!!! Freddy would love another buddy embarrassed by 'mom's' knitting addiction!
Beautiful colors! I think the cowl will look awesome! I finished a cowl for Emma yesterday - well mostly finished, she grabbed it before I could get the ends weaved in!
Those colors are stunning! I'm so glad I live in a place where I can enjoy wool, almost year round.
Reading At the Water's Edge and listening to Bede. Knitting is small knits that require little attention...too much QB in my life right now. :(
I love cowls that wrap around!! Five skeins, what a bonus for you!!!
I always do the same thing...think I won't have enough and then realize I had double what I needed. Good grief.
Oh that does look rather scrummy
