Cape 2015

Our best friends rented the same house in South Chatham last week and invited us for a few days to relax. It was humid but not terribly so.  It stayed in the 80's so it was perfect beach weather.

We visited Dennisport and found some cool stores.  I can't believe somebody made this sculpture completely from sand.

Nicole found a new friend at the mini golf course.

We visited a clam shack of sorts by the sea in Sesuit Harbor and ate right here.  If you go, BYOB. Which I kind of like - you can bring a cooler of beer and it's much cheaper.

These two goofballs enjoyed themselves.  They have been friends since birth (3 weeks apart) and you can't find two kids with such opposite personalities.  But it works and they get along.

My favorite part of the trip was waking everyone up to leave at 7 AM to go back to the beach to find some seals.  It was a foggy morning so it was hard to get a good shot.  Here was the best I could do. You can see how close to the shore they come.

And yes, I know - behind the seals are the hungry sharks.  I'm not much of a beach swimmer but as usual the patrols were out in full force checking to make sure there were no sharks in search of lunch.

Not to mention that water was damn cold!  Holy cow.

My biggest turn off about the Cape - the crowds.  Oh my goodness it was crazy.  We found the more quiet spots and that was perfect for me.  I'm looking forward to finding some more next year.  And yes, I did find a yarn store!  We will chat about that another time.  Enjoy your weekend!

Sesuit Harbor is always a stop for us....THE BEST LOBSTER ROLLS!!! :) I was amazed at how quiet Truro was...definitely worth the trip up north...(oops...not as far as crazy nutty Provincetown, though!). I couldn't believe it...when we did our 'bookstore' tour, we passed 4 (FOUR~~) yarn stores and I didn't get a single stop. (not with knitters. sooooooo sad.) Two in Chatham, one in North Eastham (the one with the hardware store attached), and one down the street from the Addison Gallery--(Orleans, maybe). That was well worth the stop....art in the style of Hopper. (We also did the Hopper tour. Did I already tell you this??? It was GREAT!!!!!) Always stuff to do. Never enough time!!! I'm ready to go back and experience some of that cooler weather. (It was almost 90 every day we were there.) ick.

I love the third photo from the top, would make a great poster.
I am a huge beach swimmer, but this year have been more cautious because
of the water critter, getting bit by a shark would really put a damper
on me being at my happy place!

It certainly looks like an impressive place to have a holiday. The seals looked delightful not so keen on the sharks been in the water.

Looks like a fun week! We went to the Cape for the first time last September (to go yarn shop hopping!) and I'm thinking we may do it again (we went around the time of our anniversary). We only got as far as Hyannis. It was a lot of fun though and the crowds weren't too bad then since school was back in session!

Those spots all look quite familiar! I'm glad you had such a nice vacation.

It looks like you had a fun week.

I don't know if you know there's a new yarn shop in Chatham. http://agreatyarn.com/
I visited it in May while on my knitting retreat. It's a yarn and book store with lots of good selection.

How cool that you saw a seal that close. The sharks have been crazy this year!
That's the one thing I don't like about the main beaches, all the crowds.
Glad you had a nice time with your friends.
