Yarn Along

Knitting AND reading this week.  I think I have actually done more reading than knitting if you can believe that one.  I picked up " The Knitting Sutra" at the library this week.  I'm halfway done with it. Years ago I would have finished it by now but, like knitting, I find I have to be relaxed before I can dig into my book.

At the NH Sheep and Wool Festival Lisa picked out a sock yarn she liked and asked me to knit her socks for her birthday.  Sounded like an easy plan to me.  I'm using the Whiz Bang pattern by Sarah Shoo.  You need something a little more fancy for birthday socks for a knitter in my opinion.  This is just enough variation but easy enough to memorize.  I, of course, changed it up a bit and am doing it cuff down.  Her birthday isn't until October so I'm way ahead of schedule.  And no, she doesn't read the blog so it should stay a surprise.

What are you reading and knitting these days?

Joining Ginny.

I have only ever knit cuff down socks - I think starting with the toe scares me too much! I am doing a lot of homeschooling research right now, so that is my reading, and my knitting, well at least I found a pattern, now to get the yarn to go with it!!!

Hey that might be just the sock pattern needed for my new yarn! Good colours you're working with too, interesting without being too crazy.

gorgeous socks and how nice you are knitting them for her. I love how you said you have to relax to get into a book, I'm the same these days.

I have yet to complete a sock project. The yarn is so pretty. Maybe I just need to find the right yarn for motivation!!

Knitting and reading. You're living the dream! I am more knitting than reading. I feel like I have to sacrifice one to make the progress I want on the other. That's okay. I'm really enjoying knitting right now. I've taken a break from baby knits to enjoy socks and shawls.

I love the colorway for the birthday socks. Super fun!
