On a beautiful weekend

What do you get with lots of sun after 5 straight days of rain in the life of a knitter?

Nope - no finished objects here. I spent most of the weekend dyeing yarn and roving. I still have a bunch more to do before the RI Wool Festival. I swore I would get outside at some point and knit or spin on the back porch but by the time I got out there Sunday evening it was way too windy to be comfortable. Another one of the perils of living on the water - the wind is your enemy for most of the year. But it is a welcome guest during the months of June, July and August!

Yep, to the frogpond we go

What is different about this yarn from the way it looked yesterday? Perhaps, there is no project anymore - it is just a lonely ball of yarn.

Yeah, I ripped the whole thing out. Loved the pattern - looked real good, but this just wasn't the yarn for this project. I am going to make a hat with it instead. What a pain in the youknowhat to rip that sucker out! Sooo, onto other WIP

My first pair of Jaywalkers. They are going to be a gift.

The weekend is here - and the weather is supposed to be incredible!!!!! Let's hear it for the sun!

Thank You Stitch Marker Exchange Partner

Look what I got in the mail this weekend!

I am going to plant my seeds this upcoming weekend. I think we may actually see the sun by then. All this rain has been so depressing, but these great colors cheered me up!

I did spin up some my hand-dyed roving to see what the finished results would be. I picked one of my favorie colorways that I named "Purple Shamrock" because it was really deep purple and green. It spun up much lighter (which always happens) but I really like the colors.

It is supposed to end up a head scarf, but it is turning out too thick and will likely be a regular old scarf!

Plugging along

I feel like I accomplished something this week in my crafty life. That doesn't happen often! I finished spinning this

I kept it a single ply, which is something I usually dont' do. I have some baby knitting to do

It's from the latest issue of Family Circle Easy Knitting. I changed the colors and my version is looking like this

I am so happy that MLB made the deal with Cable TV to carry the baseball games. There is nothing more satisfying in springtime than to watch the Yankees game. It is something we have not been able to do since moving to New England because we only got a few of the Yankee games. Actually, we didn't watch as much baseball in NY. That Red Sox/Yankee rivalry makes it all the more fun to watch and cheer for the home team (a rivalry that I didn't even know existed until we moved here - you never hear about it in NY, there are no bumperstickers or T-Shirts that say "The Red Sox Suck" like you see around here - sour grapes perhaps????).

And of course, the dyepot is on again this morning. I got some real cool colors mixing! Check back tomorrow to see!

One more month, oh my!!!

While chatting with my knitting buddies this past weekend it occurred to me that it is less than a month for the Sheep and Wools to begin! Sadly I will not make Maryland and it looks like Connecticut won't happen for me either (Nicole has a show). New Hampshire will be my first event of the season, followed by Rhode Island (of course!)and then Massachussetts. That will take us through the summer and then Vermont in September. The spinning gals are also trying to make a trip to NY in October.

In the meantime I am spinning this

and turning it into this

I'm not sure if I like it - it may end up on Etsy or at the RI Festival. I think the next spin will be that great purple I got a few weeks ago. It's calling my name again............

A different flavor

While I am a fiber-addict I do ocassionally dip into a new and exciting craft.

While I am pleased with the result I wasn't so thrilled with the process. I don't mind stitch markers (hint hint, stitch marker partner) because they go relatively quick. This project did take a few hours. Now maybe that is because I am a novice and some other bead wizards can "wiz" through such a simple necklace and earrings. I am excited because it is a gift for somebody who I know will absolutely love it.

At any rate, I think I'll stick with fiber for now........
