I'm not sure either(saw your post on SpinList) Four hot washes should be good-did you let the water cool before taking the fiber out? That might make the lanolin accumulate on whatever part of the fleece was near the top of the water. If not, I don't know. I don't think I've ever had this happen. I am glad to hear it's a small portion that is doing this-the fleece looks fantastic! I love a good Cormo :~)
WHoa! Fiber time! That looks so familiar! I cleaned and was drying some Coopworth a month or two ago and it looked just like that. I bet you can't wait to spin it up!
I agree with Holly -- I just made the mistake she's referring to about letting the water cool with the fleece still in it. Once I had that figured out (and was wearing rubber gloves to protect my hands), I was able to get the fleece clean in just a few more changes of very, very hot water (about 6 soaks of 10 or 15 minutes each).
