Yarn Along

So a couple of weeks ago while checking out what everyone was working on during Yarn Along I came across a post about a new Mystery KAL.  And it was based on my favorite series, Game of Thrones.  I don't really like mystery KALs.  I like to see what I'm working on and what it will look like.  Plus I had weaving to finish, my other shawl to work on, was ready to cast on my summer project.  It sounded like fun but it was best just to focus on what was in front of me.

An hour later I was at the yarn store.  I happened to pick up two skeins of a color called "Here Be Dragons".  And off I went. I cast on that night.  I was two clues behind when I started and I'm about one clue behind at this point.  This pattern takes some concentration.  And while I typically like "no brainer" knitting these days I have to say - I am loving the attention I need to give it.  Now that does make for limited knitting time.  I have to make sure the house is quiet.  No distractions.  But once I'm going it's all good.

As with most lace it just looks like bunch of nothing.  If you look closely you can see the "dragon scales".

The green color is real hard to pick up in photos too.

And I have been reading a bit.

A wonderful birthday present from my aunt along with some Alpaca to spin.  I just love her!

So what's going on in your fiber world?

The perfect match of pattern and yarn! I've never done a mystery KAL because I also like to see what I'm knitting but your enthusiasm may have convinced me to give it a try.

so far your mystery knit is looking lovely! I tend to shy away from mystery knits, I like to know what I'm knitting :) However I did a circular shawl way way back and was pleasantly surprised at loving it!

It looks great. Maybe I should try a mystery knit... might help me learn to trust the pattern and stop over thinking things. Can't wait to see how it continues!

I've never done a mystery knit before, I like to know what I am doing. Your knitting is looking amazing, the detail is outstanding. What a great gift, a wonderful book and yarn.

Very cool! I'm not much of a mystery kal person. I definitely need an idea of what i am making, or it will not come out right...maybe if I were better at following the instructions...

I love the name of the yarn color. Dragons, indeed!

Though I'm not a fan of the show because I don't have HBO, I have friends that are and I think the name of the yarn is very cool. Dany is a pretty kickass character on the show.

I'm sure the shawl is going to be great.

I tried one Mystery knit and never did finish the shawl, I didn't like the pattern at all.
Your knitting looks beautiful and since it's Game of Thrones knitting you know I love it!

Love the name of your yarn. Can't wait to see the shawl. I used to enjoy mystery shawl kals. The one's I did tended to be shawlette size and a little too small for me. Still, lots of fun.

LOL, I feel the same way about MKALs! I'm afraid to start one, in case I don't like the final project... so impressed you're doing it!
