Ten on Tuesday

Carole's prompt this week was to write a sentence that would make a great first line in a novel (I know - the picture above isn't a novel but I am enjoying it and Ms. Barrymore's interesting stories).   Me, being not so creative in the writing department, tackled it a bit differently.  I looked through my Kindle for my favorite books and wrote the first lines from those.  Can you guess what any of them are?

1.  Late Thursday night, Sea Harbor Mass

2. Alison alighted from the carriage, accepting the coachman's hand with a smile and a nod. 

3. It was Purl, curled up in the center of a cushy pile of organic cotton yarn in the deep bay display window of Izzys shop..

4. Well, Prince, so Genoa and Lucca are now just family estates of the Buonapartes.

5. Granny Weaver took a piece of wool and fed it to her spinning wheel, watching it form a long strand of sturdy yarn. 

6. Just another village among many scattered throughout the mountains and valleys of Yugoslavia's republic of Bosnia-Hercegovina; that was Medjugorje. 

7. New York seemed to be a city made for celebrations, and Dakota Walker loved every moment of the holidays,.,

8. I stared down at my shoes, watching as a fine layer of ash settles on the worn leather. 

9. Oh, I go to knitting stores where I take a very long time to look at everything.

10. Saturday night, midwinter.
