The Promise of Spring

So close yet so far.  The weather was beautiful this past weekend and I finally got some time to take pictures around the yard.  I keep seeing pictures of everyone's crocus' and daffodils.  We still have lots of green.  Even my friend who lives in the same town has blooming daffodils!  The difference is that we are so close to the water that it's just colder near us.  The water is still around 40 degrees and for as much as the bay was frozen this winter, I don't think it will be warming up too fast. And that's OK.

Because in July when everyone is hot and sweaty, we will have a nice cool breeze blowing.

Our elevation here in the foothills means we're always about 2 - 3 weeks behind the folks that live in town where it's flat...I'm always envious, but then, we have bloom when theirs is finished. :) My Rhodies haven't bloomed yet, either and look much like yours, Donna.

I would trade a slightly delayed spring for cool summer breezes anytime!

We've had temps in the high 60's and low 70's for a bit and then last night it was 38! Tonight isn't much warmer and the highs the past few days has been mid 50's!!! Gah! I wish it would just stay in the mid to high 60's, but then I would miss the winter and summer weather at some point. Or maybe not.

It snowed yesterday here!! is that not ridiculous? Love the sprouting going on in your area and soon we will be complaining of being hot (or I will be).

That's about how my garden looks. Everything dipped below freezing the other night too - so I know that's going to slow things down!
