I wanted to do something a little different this past New Years Eve. I felt the need to just go away. Nothing fancy or expensive - just a drive up north to do some exploring. So we did just that. We hopped in the car and headed for Vermont. Brattleboro was our destination. We made some stops along the way (now don't faint - I did NOT stop at WEBS as we passed the exit). We did stop at a used bookstore and found some pretty neat things. I found a book on wooden bobbins. There were a lot of pictures from the old local mills (Slater Mill being one of them).
We found a waterfall. I almost stopped traffic to take pictures. I'm a tourist - oh well.
I pulled safely to the side of the road to capture this covered bridge. The GPS told us to go through it. I passed on that. Something about one way traffic in a covered bridge kinda freaked me out.
And if you needed a flu shot you could just hop on in to the General Store and get one. We stopped a few of these. I love them. They have everything from candy to hardware.
We came back home New Years Day because Nicole had to work but we had a great little get away. We played games until midnight, had snacks in our room, explored the hotel and enjoyed ringing in a new year.

What a terrific way to begin the New Year! I love your waterfall photo and the General Store - so much nicer than Walmart!
Did you get a flu shot? ?Haa Had to say it as the yellow sign outside the building.
LOVE the waterfall and the bridge
The general store looked amazing, what a great trip.
Sounds like a great little trip... beautiful photos!
That's my kind of getaway!
Sounds like a very nice trip. Great photos!
It sounds like you celebrated new years eve in such a fun way Donna. I LOVE covered bridges, but they don't have them here. They do have general stores which are always thrilling to explore.
What fun!!! I need to suggest that to Hubster, but right now in the middle of basketball cheering season for Diva Girl and Wrestling season for her beau, we are booked up until March. And then Lacrosse for the Beau begins. Ack!
That sounds like a great way to spend New Year's Eve!
I'm glad you had a getaway and that you enjoyed yourself. I'm shocked you did not stop at Webs, you must have had all of your fibery dreams come true during the holidays :)
