Spinning....

So my Tour De Fleece project was a semi flop. I guess maybe it wasn't - I did spin enough to make the wedding blanket warp happen so I guess I shouldn't be so critical. I haven't spun much on my wheel because the only spinning I am doing lately is "on the road" for guild functions. I have become lazy in my older age. I don't feel like dragging my wheel out of the house so I bring my favorite spindle - my Golding. And I've been fairly productive. This is some stash I had sitting around from Spunky Club. I totally forget the name of the colorway.

I'm even getting consistant with my drop spindle spinning.

Not too bad huh? And the colors are exactly the same as my wedding colors. My made of honor wore aqua blue and my bridesmaids wore peach.

I saw an article in Spin Off recently that featured a gal that took all her spindle spun yarn and wove it into a blanket. So that's my five year plan. At the next few fiber festivals I will buy some colorful fiber especially for my spindle.

Ten on Tuesday

I usually don't participate in Ten on Tuesday posts but this was an easy one. And it feels good to contribute!

10 Things You Do Every Day

1. Let my puppy out. If I don't get up by a certain time my buddy makes sure I do.
2. Take a shower. I never feel truly awake until that water hits my face.
3. Make a coffee stop on the way to work. Sometimes it's Dunkin. Sometimes it's McDonalds. And it's not always coffee. I don't need that caffeine injection to get me going. I might have a coolatta or a frappe.
4. Watch the morning news. I love Channel 10. I'm not real fond of the weather forecasters though.
5. Check email and Facebook. The way Facebook keeps changing their format is driving me crazy though.
6. Check my Google Reader.
7. Tweet. Yes I'm a twitter fan. I didn't see a rational reason why people would want to do this but it is addicting!
8. Listen to the radio. Especially at work. I go back and forth between talk radio and podcasts.
9. Charge my iPhone. Which I use for just about everything. Including writing this post. It's my favorite gadget and I always say its so useful that I could marry it.
10. Say I Love You to my family. Every. Day. You never know if it will be the last thing you get to say to them.

What My Desk Looks Like

My favorite time of year. I love the Fall. Even if it's 83 degrees out today with 100 percent humidity. This weekend is supposed to bring seasonal temps. I'm looking forward to it!

Where Did The Summer Go?

In the blink of an eye it's September. Wow! I have a hard time with the transition from Summer to Autumn. Wait - it's not the change of seasons. It's the change of responsibilities that come with Autumn. Mostly Nicole and her school schedule. She is a Junior now and it's a busy year for her. Varsity jacket, school ring, junior prom, SAT, and throw in a car and drivers license in there too. It gets me dizzy.

But let's relax a bit and review our summer- shall we?

There were a few really hot days. Thank goodness it was only a few.

There was weaving. This is only half the blanket. The second half is on the loom now.

There was a pesky little hurricane. Not much damage done at the homestead. Lost power, phones etc at the office for almost a week.

There was spindle spinning. There was more spinning done on my spindle than on my wheel I think!

Most of all there was lots and lots of fun. We had kids over the house constantly and had a blast. We played volley ball, badminton, bocci, football, hockey (ok - so maybe I only did the volleyball and badminton). Nights were spent playing cards and games and watching movies and just enjoying these last years of the kids wanting to spend time with us before they all get cars and become independent. Where does the time go?
